Coach Norm Shepard is now leading 25 prospective varsity basketball players through two-hour nightly drills in the Indoor Athletic Building. The squad will be cut to 15 men within ten days.
The quintet faces a 26-game schedule, including a special Dartmouth tournament. They are now working toward the December 5 opener against highly-rated Boston University, "our most difficult opener in recent years," according to Shepard.
Six lettermen have returned for the 1963-64 season: seniors Ed Kirnsky and Ed Condon, both guards, and Bill Dennis, forward, and juniors Harry flacks, another forward, center Dick Manning, and guard Roger Bulger. Kirnsky in team captain.
Senior Ed-Boldnick, who played freshman ball three years ago but did not report last year, has also returned. The 6'6"" Blodnick was a reserve center on the varsity as a sophomore.
Standouts for last year's freshman team who are fighting for varsity positions are Warren Kantrowitz and Bob Bowman, both forwards, and center Bruce Downey.
"Also helpful," said Shepard, "will be juniors Paul Shaw, Larry Flaxman, and Rolin Perry."
