Private secondary school education is not harmful to American youth, members of the Athenaoum conclude last night.
Sam Olevson '54 represented the negative side of the topic. "Resolved: that the divisive influence of private secondary education is harmful." Olevson noted that a diversity of viewpoints in education is the best safeguard against the pressures of conformity in our society.
His two opponents on the affirmative Roger wood and Charles Parsons, both seniors, tried in vain to persuade the audience that private education on a secondary level created isolated groups with in the community.
