Swimmers Go to Worcester Today For A.A.U. Match

six Crimson swimmers will travel to Worcester today to compete in the annual New England A.A.U. meets.

Since the competition is an open one, athletic clubs and individual swimmers as well as representative from colleges may enter. Individual titles, but not team championships, are at stake.

The Crimson's entries will be Captain Ron Huebsch, seniors Dave Hedberg and John MacNamara, juniors Marv Sandler and Bill Travis, and sophomore Al Rapperport, captain of last year's Yardling swimmers. All six are freestylers.

The Crimson swimmers will be defending two titles--in the 200-yard relay and the 50-yard freestyle. A victory in the relay would give the Crimson permanent possession of the New England Championship trophy, since the squad already has one leg on it. Huebsch, Hedberg, MacNamara, and Rapperport are entered in the event.

Hedberg, who will swim in all three events, has his 50-yard Massachusetts State freestyle title at stake. Huebsch and MacNamara are also entered.

Sandler, Travis, and again Hedberg will swim for the Crimson in the 100-yard freestyle event. The new England championship is on the line in this event.

Hedberg, the Crimson's leading entry, has been the squad's biggest point-scorer so far this season. Swimming against Springfield and Dartmouth, the senior scored double victories in each meet in the sprint events.

The meet will take place in the pool of the Worcester Boy's Club.
