Three Crimson track men have qualified for the semi-finals and finals of the IC4A meet tody in New York City. They will compete as usual despite the death of varsity coach Jaakko Mikkola.

Bob Twitchell qualified for the semi-finals in the 200 hurdles by finishing third in his best. The winning time for the heat was 22 seconds flat. Pole-vaulter Bob Mello will go into the finals of his event today, although he has yet to complete.

The third Crimson hope is Dave Cairns, who will be entered in the two-mile run. Cairns has run the event only twice before, but he ran an excellent race in the Heptagonals two weeks ago, breaking the Harvard record with a time of 9:22. The fact that Cairns has run the race so few times means that he may be able to turn in far better times in the event.

In yesterday's events it was Manhattan College that, as expected, turned in the most powerful showing. Cornell's Meredith Gourdine, however, competed in three events, turned in the best times in two of them and second best in the other, and kept up the Big Red's hopes of retaining its meet title.

Other Ivy League white hopes did poorly. Hammer-thrower Joe Chadbourne of Yale fouled out on his three attempts, and Princeton's Al Rauch lost a battle for second place in a qualifying round and thus will sit out the rest of the meet.
