Wrestling captain Johnny Lee has been awarded a major letter for the second straight year, the Harvard Athletic Association announced yesterday. Lee received the award this year for placing fourth in the Colorado National Collegiate wrestling tournament in March.
Lee is expected to be called into the army next September, although he is a junior. At Harvard he has been undefeated in dual meet competition, running up 20 consecutive victories.
At the Colorado meet, Lee lost in the semi-final to Billy Borders from Oklahoma. Borders won the 125-pound class title, and will represent the U.S. in the Olympics. In addition he was judged the outstanding wrestler in the meet. He decisioned Lee, 10 to 4.
Last year Lee won the major letter for his victory in the National A.A.U 121-pound class. This year he placed third in that meet at the Olympic weight of 125 pounds.
