Cambridge will invite General Eisenhower to deliver the traditional address marking the city's 177th anniversary celebration of George Washington's taking command of the Continental Army, Cambridge officials said yesterday.
The City Council officially approved the invitation presented by Councillor W. Donnison Swan '17. The event will take place on July 3 or 4 on the Common, the Public Celebrations Committee announced. The historic elm tree was supposed to have stood some-where in the present Common.
