Crimson Blanked In Tennis Finals Of New England

Crimson tennis players were shut out of both final matches in the New England Intercollegiate tennis matches held at New Haven over the weekend. The varsity had sent Captain Charlie Ufford, John Rauh, Art French, Gene Mann, and Bill Goodman to the Yale courts.

Both the entries in the final doubles match were combinations which the Crimson's first doubles team of Ufford and Goodman had defeated in earlier dual matches this season. Ed Wesley and Dave Mesker of Amherst won the title for the second straight year while Al Schwartz and Hank Blodget of Yale came in second.

In singles, top-seeded Dick Squires of Williams won the championship by beating second-seeded Wesley. Wesley's two places gave the team title to Amherst, however.
