The regulars sat in the grand stand yesterday while a varsity tennis team made up almost entirely of last year's undefeated freshman squad blanked Boston University, 9 to 0, at Soldiers Field. The Crimson lost only one set in gaining its fourth victory and third shutout in a row.
Only two members of the regular singles roster played in yesterday's line up. Numbers four and six men Gene Mann and Don Bossart took first and second singles. Mann won, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4, while Bossart was having an easier time triumphing 6-1, 6-3.

Steve Sonnabend, Bill Goodman, Terry King, and Frank Goodman completed the Crimson singles list, in that order. King and Frank Goodman swept their matches without the loss of a game; Sonnabend and senior Bill Goodman, the only on sophomore to play singles, dropped but one apiece.
Three more standouts from last year's Yardling team played first and second doubles. Junior Paul Trinchieri and Donn Spencer won, 6-3, 6-4, while Herb Stone and Mike Ward were winning, 6-3, 6-3.
The third doubles, duo, composed of seniors Chase Peterson and Dick Becker had even less trouble, taking their match 6-2, 6-0, as the Crimson completed the rout.
On Saturday, the varsity travels to Providence to meet Brown.
