Opportunities in business and finance abroad are better than ever, a group of experts concluded last night at Dunster House in the fifth of a series of career discussions. The discussions are under the sponsorship of the Student Placement Office.

W. Rogers Herod, president of the International General Electric Company, began the meeting by saying that the increase in manufacturing abroad has put the United States in great need for men in manufacturing abroad. There is just as much room for the intelligent job-seeker abroad as there is at home, he said.

Fitzhugh Granger, Manager of Foreign Operation Merchandizing Services for the International Harvester Company continued the discussion by agreeing with Herod saying that in the field of foreign sales there are openings in every phase of the exporting business abroad.

The final speaker, H. Harold Whitman, vice-president of the City Bank of New York, outlined the opportunity in overseas banking by listing the various departments of finance in which there are positions open. If there is no war, he said, there is great optimism for the coming generation.

All three were agreed as to the advantages and disadvantages of foreign service. Items such as higher salary and longer vacations counteracted the inferior standard of living in foreign countries and the various problems that come with positions abroad.
