Varsity wrestling coach Bob Pickett will send his team after its third straight victory when the Crimson faces Tufts at Medford tonight. Fresh from a 24 to 8 informal thumping of M.I.T., and a 20 to 13 victory over Amherst, the local squad has been installed as the favorite to win the meet.
The freshmen go against the Tufts first year squad an hour before the varsity meet begins at 8 p.m.
The Yardlings got off to a good start by smashing the M.I.T. freshmen 36 to 0 in an informal meet but this match did little more than give the freshmen the feel of the college sport. The Tufts yearlings are a complete unknown quantity.
Football assistant Joe Maras has taken over the freshman coaching assignment from last year's Yardling wrestling coach, ex-football captain Howard Houston.
Heavy Strength
Crimson varsity strength in early meets has come from the heavier weights. Coming from behind, the heavier wrestlers were responsible for the victory over Amherst.
Increased experience will greatly enhance the value of Don Muggia at 123. Don Fern at 130, and ex-Yardling captain Pete Hiam at 137, and give the team the desired balance. Probable varsity starters at the remaining weights tonight will be: Bud Adams 147, Len Miller 157, Chick Chandler 167. Ken Culbert will start at 177, and the heavyweight will be Tim Anderson.
