For the first time since before the war the College will have a junior varsity basketball team, Coach Norman W. Shepard announced yesterday.
A full JV basketball schedule is presently being arranged. As yet, only three games have been set, but negotiations are presently being carried on with several service organizations for future contests. About 12 games will be played.
Demand an Interest
Carroll L. Getchell, Business Manager of the H.A.A., indicated that plans for the J.V. team were first presented early this fall. He was unable to say at this time whether other sports, such as hockey and baseball would have similar J.V. teams, although he did indicate that sufficient demand and interest might make it possible for a complete J.V. program in other varsity sports.
Shepard said that he plans to have 15-man J.V. and varsity squads. Players will be moved from J.V. to varsity and vice-versa, depending on their performances in each game.
The first J.V. game is scheduled to take place December 6, when the junior varsity will play the freshman five.
Getchell revealed that an early plan to schedule games with some of the better local high school teams had been abandoned, and that YMCA's and Service teams will provide the main opposition.
