Eliot Stuns Winthrop 27-0; Now House League Leaders

Eliot House took over undisputed first place in the House football league with a decisive 27 to 0 win over Winthrop yesterday, while Dunster fought Leverett to a scoreless tie in the other contest.

The Elephants were never in trouble as they maintained their undefeated, unscored-upon record. Fred Rhinelander threw touchdown passes to ends Bill Gray and Ed White, and scored one of the extra points himself. John MacNamara scored from five yards out on an off tackle smash, and Hank Greenberg skirted left end from the fifteen for the other touchdown. Greenberg and MacNamara also scored an extra point apiece.

Leverett's vaunted passing attack failed to click today as it went after its third win. Buzzy Smyth caught the only pass out of 13 attempted by the Bunnies. The game was hard fought throughout, but neither team seriously threatened to score.

The Puritan touch football team made up for the tackle loss with an 18 to 12 victory over Eliot. Pete Dillingham scored the winning touchdown on the last play of the game after every member of his team had handled the ball.

In the other touch game, Dunster routed Leverett, 36 to 0. Dirk Post, Jack McKenna, and Tony Van Wye all tallied twice, and Dave Heller, playing his first game of the year, tossed three touchdown passes.
