B. U. will provide most of the opposition for the varsity track team today, with Holy Cross thrown in for the ride. The Terriers, who have won their first two meets this spring, boast several outstanding men who should be able to pile up quite a few points. The Crusaders have only one runner who is a serious threat.
Chief visiting field event threats will be Irv Black and Cliff Blair of B. U. Black should win the hammer fairly easily, while Blair is a definite threat in the shot put and a possible place in both the discus and hammer.
Visiting runners to watch are the two Fitzgeralds of B. U. and Jim Ahearn of Holy Cross. The mile shapes up as the best race of the day with Dave Cairns facing Dick Fitzgerald of B. U. and Ahearn of Holy Cross. All three have previously run the mile in about 4:20.
Freshmen Meet Exeter
Meanwhile a depleted freshman track team travels to Exeter in an attempt to maintain their undefeated record. The Yardlings will be without the services of sprinter Pete Terry, hurdler and high jumper Ty Smith, and pole vaulter Myron Hoffer. In an effort to offset these losses Captain Paul Sheats will run in the 100 and 220 in addition to his usual 440 and Phil Meyers will move up from the 440 to the 880.
