Middlebury's well-drilled squad forced the varsity lacrosse team to play its best game since the spring trip in crushing the Blue, 17 to 2, on the New Playing Field yesterday. Reserve attackman Moe Baldwin was high scorer with two goals and four assists.
The visitors surprised the Crimson, who expected an easy win, but trailing 1 to 0 going into the second frame, Harvard reacted to meeting a good team by playing cooperative ball. Captain Rick Hudner belted in the first Crimson tally and added four assists to help put the home team ahead, 6 to 2, at the half.
In the next quarter the Blue's tired midfields didn't check back properly and, although Middlebury's goalie, Dave Todd, was outstanding, the Crimson clinched the game with another six goals.
The Crimson's passing attack, which was sloppy at the outset, functioned with precision in the last three periods.
