BC Freshmen Top Yardling Six, 6-5

Bill Maguire's five goals were too much for the Yardling skaters as they received a 6 to 5 loss from Boston College in the Arena yesterday. Dick Clasby was high scorer for the losers with two tallies and an assist.

With a few exceptions the Crimson played sloppily. B.C.'s fast-skating linemen constantly shook themselves loose from the Yardling defensemen, who seldom checked back properly.

The Eaglets, with a series of rapid passing attacks spearheaded by playmaker Jackie Canuiff, racked up four goals in the opening frame. Clasby tallied the lone Crimson score on a long shot at 12:35 of this period.

After Clasby and Jeb Bray each scored, Crimson defenseman Jeff Coolidge tied up the game on a backhanded flip shot with 39 seconds to play in the second period.

Fred Horwen revived the Yardling's hopes when he made a spectacular shot from the blue line at 2:24 of the final stanza, but Maquire tallied twice before time ran out.
