Fire inspection of all Harvard buildings starts this week, Stephen F. Spencer, Cambridge Commissioner of Buildings, said yesterday. The Cambridge City Council ordered the inspection after the fires in Claverly Hall.

Radcliffe has been waiting for an inspection since last fall, according to Ralph B. Gates, Superintendent of Building and Grounds at the Annex.

Inspected on Complaint Only

Inspection licenses of dining rooms in six Radcliffe dormitories expired last November and December. Earlier in the fall, Gates asked an official of the State Department of Public Safety to have them renewed. The official promised that "someone will be over shortly."

Off-campus houses at Radcliffe will be inspected, Spencer said, if there are any complaints about their safety facilities.

Buildings are inspected when they are built, and not again, unless the Building Board receives a complaint, Conway of the Building Board said on Friday. But "a Council member may ask for an inspection, then we'll do a survey, he said.
