Fencers to Face Princeton Today

Both the varsity and the freshman fencers have all-important matches today, the varsity against Princeton away and the Yardlings against Clark University here.

The varsity, after losing two straight to Army and Columbia, hopes to smash the Tigers today and regain its pre-Army match rating as the nation's number-two fencing team. The good showing made against Columbia, which beat the Crimson, 17 to 10, in a hard fought match in New York, has led Coach Peroy to anticipate a win over Princeton.

The freshmen hope to continue their unbeaten skein by taking Clark, after defeating Wesleyan and Boston University. The '54 fencers should be on their way to an unbeaten season.

Captain Win Overholser will lead the varsity in the epee, while Forrest Carter, who fenced brilliantly against the Lions in winning his three individual contests, is number-one man in the sabre. Chris Martin leads the team in the foils.

In an informal match with a New York Athletic Club team with four Olympic fencing stars on it, the Crimson fencers lost, 19 to 8. Captain Win Overholser starred for the varsity, winning his three bouts.
