Helped by Captain Norm Wood's two goals, an uninspired freshman hockey team downed Exeter, 4 to 2, Saturday on the prep school's rink. Poor teamwork by the visitors and 22 fine saves by Jack Tyson, Exeter goaltender, kept the score down.
The Red and Gray took an early lead when Crimson goalie Dick Driscoll was caught in a pileup seven feet in front of the cage. A few minutes later Dick Clasby passed the puck from behind the Exeter cage, feeling Tyson, and letting Wood score easily.
Wood counted again to start the second period, when with the Yardings a man short, he split the defense and backhanded a low shot into the far corner. Jim Colt added to the lead when he belted in the third Crimson tally from a scramble in front of the nets.
Exeter trailed, 3 to 1, going into the third period, when Charley Pratt narrowed the lead.
