Only a few students have joined the Taft-for-President Club so far, W. Parker Dwelley, Jr. '53, founder of the group, told the CRIMSON last night.

"We were just testing for interest," Dwelley said. He added that he didn't know how popular Taft might be in the College, because of the regional diversity in the student body.

Dwelley said the club will co-ordinate its activities with other student Taft groups in Greater Boston. He denied any official tie-up between the clubs and Taft's campaign headquarters, but admitted the movement might be termed "a ground-swell starting from above."

John D. Harrington 3L, president of the Young Republicans, said his organization would not align itself with any one G.O.P. candidate. "It would be a tragic thing if we did," Harrington said. "H.Y.R.C. will not officially work with any lobby or power group within the party."
