Sex books will soon be a thing of the licentious past in Cambridge if Al Vellucci, father of six children, has his way.
Vellucci, a candidate for the School Committee, has issued a leaflet entitled "Rouse, Ye Citizens," announcing his intention to bar "cheap books and literature" from the news stands. Vellucci has described his actions as non-political.
The leaflet states that "our children are being sold cheap books and magazines, loaded down with filth and obscene language. Trash books are jeopardizing the education of our children--supplementing home work."
Two police detectives are already looking for cheap novels in Cambridge stores. So far, two pocket-size books have been taken off the stands. More may be confiscated after the election.
"Wake up before it's too late," the pamphlet cries, "join forces with Al Vellucci, father of six."
