January's Draft To Induct 59,650

The Defense Department yesterday issued a draft call for 59,650 men In January. It was the largest call since last spring when 80,000 were inducted. Of the total, 48,000 are for the Army and 11,650 for the Marines.

The big January goal, the Defense Department announced, "compensates for the low call in December when inductions will be suspended for the holiday period between December 21, 1951 and January 2, 1952. In December, Selective Service plans to call 16,900. The call for last January was 80,000, the same as February and March.
