Straus North won the Yard intramural touch football championship yesterday at Soldiers Field by downing Massachusetts Hall, 6 to 0.
The victory gives Straus North the right to meet Yale's freshman champs. South Middle, at 2:30 p.m. Friday at New Haven.
Geoff Ball, who has been a Straus North standout all season, scored the winning touchdown mid-way in the fourth period when he ran the ball over from three yards out. He helped set up the score on a play is which be lateraled to Bob Crouch, who then faded back and threw him a 30 yard pass.
Massachusetts almost tied up the game moments later when a 40-yard pass, from Roy Morton to Dick Alemain, put the ball on the Straus North two-yard line. A try at the line by Alemain moved the ball to the one foot line, but then a 16-yard penalty killed the threat.
