Results of the four-day Combined Charities Drive at the College show a drop of $800 below last year's contributions, Ira H. Peterman '52 told the CRIMSON yesterday.
The drive, which closed on October 25, netted $17,316, while in 1950, a total of $18,123 was collected. Peterman explained that the drop resulted from "an increase in expenditures and a decrease in enrollment." College enrollment has dropped by 100 this year.
Kirkland, Adams, Claverly, Apley, and the Yard showed considerable decreases in contributions. A combination of the Yard, Claverly, and Apley was responsible for a drop of $1,037, while the Gold Coast and Deacon contributions were $500 short of last year's total.
The breakdown of College contributions is: Lowell, $2,731; Eliot, $1,969; Dunster, $1,715; Winthrop, $1,701; Kirkland $1,331; Adams, $1,267; Leverett, $1,179; Yard, Claverly, and Apley, $5,334; and Commuters, $86.
