Annex Considers New Co-op House Next Fall

One of Radcliffe's present off-campus houses may be converted into a co-operative next year, Mary C. Small. Dean of Students, said yesterday.

The Annex administration is considering the move because Peach House, one of the current co-operatives, is among the Houses to be closed next fall. Opening of a new co-operative depends upon whether the remaining two co-operative houses will be able to absorb financially-qualified students.

An announcement yesterday said that Peach House will be shut down next year, in addition to 20 Walker Street and Henry House, because they are structurally undesirable and will not be needed when Holmes Hall is opened.

Co-operatives, which are subsidized by Radcliffe, are designed to make low-cost housing available to needy students. They will be continued even after the new Radcliffe dormitories are completed.
