EXETER, N.H. Oct. 17--In spite of hard, aggressive play, the freshman soccer team fell victim to a first period three-goal drive and succumbed to undefeated Phillips Exeter Academy, 3 to 2, here today. Not a bit disinheartened by the score, Crimson coach Andrew "poley" Guyda said "we have now arrived and will go places...it's too bad Exeter got us so early in the season."

If he lost the game, Guyda found a terrific fullback in captain Mauricio Toro whom he switched from center forward late in the first period. After the game Guyda predicted that Toro "has a chance of becoming one of the outstanding fullbacks in college soccer." He said, however, that Toro will also see service at center forward.

Exeter started off quickly and constantly beat the visitors to the ball. At 4:15 Yardling fullback Bob Young tried to chest a ball, but it hit his arms, giving Exeter a penalty kick. Paul Marden shot the goal. Six minutes later Exeter got an indirect kick, which was good for another tally.

With six minutes to play in the opening stanza, Marden headed one in to make the score, 3 to 0.

Exeter started to tire, but it wasn't until 11:50 of the third quarter that Roland Hok chested a ball past the Red and Gray goalie, Lindsey Fisher. Then the freshmen caught fire, and dominated the play with their short-passing game. Mike Blumenfeld scored early in the last period, but the home team held and the game ended, 3 to 2.
