Hockey Team Slips Past Northeastern, 3-1; Husky Goalie Picard Excels in Sloppy Tilt

Northeastern 's hockey team and the varsity didn't do much more than bat the puck around the Arena ice for three periods just, last night, but the Crimson managed to sink more goals, and won a sloppy game, 3 to 1. The score would have been higher, too had not Husky goalie Ray Picard turned in a fine job in the nets.

Picard, one of the best young goalies in town, made 30 saves, as against 20 for Crimson notminder Brad Richardson. Neither team could put together a consistent attack, but the defenses weren't particularly effective, either, Harvard was more aggressive, and occasionally showed good teamwork. Both Bill Bliss and Jim O'Brien were out with colds, so the Crimson had only two defense pairs.

Kittredge, with one of the highest point-totals and goals-per-game averages in the East, split the defense alone and beat Picard after a Jack Carman pass at 16:10, and Marshall banged in a Kittredge rebound after a scramble in front of the not 20 seconds late to end the scoring. The third period was highlighted by a brief fight between Husky defenseman Len McNamara and Crimson assistant manager Chuck Wade in the penalty box.
