Eliot, Bunnies, Dudley Win In House Hockey Contests

Dunster came close to pulling the upset of the House hockey season at the Arena yesterday, but finally lost, 4 to 3, Eliot, after holding a 3 to 0 lead.

Leverett ground out a 9 to 6 victory over an undermanned Adams team in he opener of the Arena doubleheader. Earlier--at 7:30 a.m.--Dudley posted its second straight conquest with a 3 to 1 defeat of Kirkland at the Boston Skating Club.

The Elephants, heavy favorites, found themselves completely out-rushed by the Dunster team, and totally stymied by the tight defense the Funsters put up around goalie Hank Feldman. Eliot didn't score until Don Eaton laced one home with 15 seconds to play in the first period. Meanwhile, Flash Fletcher, Fred Koch, and Greg Kolligian had given Dunster a 3 to 0 lead.

After the intermission, though, the pattern changed, and while Dunster was unable to press an attack, John Snelling scored twice for Eliot, tying the game, while Eaton added the winning goal.

Skip Johnson pounded in four goals to pace Leverett's attack. Defenseman Dan Simonds added another two to a fine all-around game. Simonds' rushing and Johnson's accurate shooting were the main reasons Leverett controlled the game at every point.
