Six Clips Williams, 21-4; Runners Rip Tech, 87-22

Crimson Captures 11 to 13 Firsts

M.I.T. was left at the post Saturday afternoon when Jaakko Mikkola's track team swept four events and took first in 11 out of 13 to win its third meet of the season by an 87 to 22 score. The undefeated Crimson freshmen ran off with seven out of ten contests to set back Huntington School, 64 to 22.

Neither the result of the meet nor any of the individual races were close. Out standing personal feat of the afternoon was Bob Mello's pole vault of 12 feet, 6 inches. It was the first time that Mello, who sprained his ankle badly before 2 inches. The Harvard records, however, is 13-11 3/4.

Mello went on to take second in the broad jump at 21 feet, 1/8 inches, 2 1/2 inches behind Bill Geick's winning jump. Harvard's Pete Curran took third.

The home team strongmen swept the weight events, with Jerry Kanter with a put of 47 feet, 4 1/2 inches, Al Wilson, and Captain Charlie Keith finishing one, two, three with the shot, and Dick Rubin, Eric Stomsted, and Wilson scoring with the 35-pound weight. Rubin's distance was 47 feet, 8 3/4 inches.

Relatively dark horses Curran and Geick also took first and second in the sprints when favored dashmen Bob Twitchell and Charlie Durakis got away slowly after several false starts.

Ed Grutzner took a 1:16.3 first place in the 600, run off in two timed heats, with Ronnie Berman second.

Although they handed Huntington the advantage of a low-hurdles race and a 300-yard run, and dropped the weight and pole vault, the Yardlings had an easy afternoon.
