Scholarships at the Law School this fall reached their highest total in recent years, the Dean's Office announced yesterday. One hundred and twenty-eight men working for LLB. degrees will get about $62,000 in financial aid. Similar awards totaling about $47,000 were made last year to 119 men.
The $62,000 figure does not include awards made to post LLB. students. The largest amount of scholarships went to first-year men: 52 persons got slightly over $25,000 were given.
While most of the sum for scholarships came for the Law School's own money, there were also awards from the general scholarship funds of the University. Each school of the University recommends candidates to the Provost's Office for these grants.
Second and third year scholarships from Law School funds are awarded on the basis of the examinations at the close of the preceding year.
