House tutorial staffs have so far acquitted 23 resident and nine non-resident tutors of replace those who left last spring. In addition four of the seven senior tutors will assume their responsibilities for the first time this semester.

The new senior tutors include Herschel C. Baker '36, assistant professor of English (Dunster House), McGeorge Rundy, lecturer on Government (Winthrop House), Assistant Dean Herlan P. Hanson (Kirkland House), and Clayton A. Swenace '44, assistant professor of Physics (Leverett House).

Dunster has the greatest number of new tutors with five residents and two non-residents. The former include Jonas A. Barish '42, English; Charles G. H. Garrett, Physics; Richard J. Goss '48, Biology; William H. McClain, German; and James B. Thompson, Petrology. New non-resident tutors are Gardner E. Lindzey, Social Relations, and Benjamin D. Paul, Social Relations.

Kirkland is acquiring three resident and two non-resident tutors, while George W. Machee, of the Mathematics Department, is returning. The resident tutors are Andrew Eklund '48, Economics; Samuel P. Huntington, Government; and Harlan C. Meal '46, Chemistry. William H. Miller, History and Literature, and Allan D. Sapp, Jr. '43, Music, will take up non-residency positions.

Adams also has one returning tutor, Frank A. Trapp '47, while it is acquiring two resident and two non-resident tutors, Bernard Bailyn '47 of the General Education Department, and Joseph C. Palzmountain '48, of Government, are assuming the resident duties, while Richard T. Wilgur is the new non-resident tutor in English. John M. Bullitt '43, an English tutor, is changing from resident to non-resident status in Adams.

Lowell has four new resident and one non-resident tutors. LeRoy C. Breunig, Romance Languages; Gordon Campbell, Anthropology; Edgar F. Shannon, Jr. '47, English; and Herhert J. Spire, Government, comprise the former, while Robert S. Schwantes '43, History and Literature, is the new non-resident addition.

Eliot

Eliot's tutorial staff, which is the largest, with 27 men, includes four new resident members. They are John M. Alcorn '45, History and Literature; Robert H. Chapman, English; Robert Middletown, music; and Adam Ulam, Government.

Leverett has acquired two new resident and two non-resident tutors this fall. Thomas C. Moser '48, English, and Eliot B. Spiess '42, Biology, will take over the resident duties, while Guy S. Freutel, Economics, and Even Z. Vogt, Social Relations, will fill in the non-resident gaps.
