The College last night announced the establishment of a Lawrence Coolidge Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of the Boston attorney and overseer who died last winter.
The fund will provide scholarships to be awarded to freshmen on the basis of "character, integrity, industry and need" and may be held throughout the man's College course. It is expected that the first award of this scholarship will be made in the college year 1950-51.
More than $28,000 has been contributed to date toward the fund by the family and friends of Lawrence Coolidge '27 in the month since plans for the memorial were first presented. Additional contributions are still being received.
