Milk Shakes Quench Gold Coast Fire

Three students armed with milkshakes saved Tom & Jim's Cleansers at 71 Mt. Auburn Street from possible destruction by fire yesterday morning.

Upon seeing the store's front awning briskly burning, William S. Rolbrook '52 ran into a nearby soda spa. Yelling "fire, fire," he and two other students, Peter K. Solmasen '52 and James Hardy '52, sensed nearby milkshakes.

To the cheers of spectators, the three with milkshakes, a store broom, and a ladder proceeded to extinguish the burning awning.

Ten minutes later, after the last flame was out, the police, with airiness screaming, drew up. They then proceeded to call the fire department. The freshmen examined the stores front, congratulated the amateur fire fighters, and left. Damage was estimated at $56. How much of this was caused by the milkshakes could not be determined.
