Matson Names Varsity, '53 Golf Teams; Green Match Rained Out

Rain washed out the varsity golf team's match with Dartmouth yesterday and the game will probably not be rescheduled. Meanwhile, Captain Bob Matson announced the varsity and freshman winners of the ten day play-offs for first team positions.

Four varsity players, including Matson, shot 74s to lead of the 12 first team golfers. The other three are Dave Gorman, Doug Wilde, and Sam Seager. Completing the roster in order of low scores will be Paul Weissman, John Speer, Jack Donton, Hugh Nawn, Jr., Mitchell Rosenholtz, Horb Mee, George Briggs, and Bill Caswell.

Hedberg Tops '53

Dave Hodberg, who scored a 75 in the play-offs, heads the freshman ten. The nine other low scorers were Bill Rydell, Dan Haskins, George Wheeling, Jack Dennis, Marv Schwalb, Horton Rood, Gil Eisner, Dick Berkeley, Martin Greenberger.

The varsity's next match will be the Eastern Intercollegiates this weekend at the Salem Country Club. Matson's team will meet Columbia, Princeton, and Yale, while the Yardlings will play only Yale.

The following weekend, the varsity will compete in the New England Intercollegiate Play-off at Oakley Country Club and complete its season at Williams, May 22. The freshmen will conclude play a week from Saturday when they engage Nichols Junior College.
