To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
As numeral winners in freshman football, we protest the University's decision to use unrestricted funds for the building of a new Varsity Club. It is obvious that such a building will benefit only a small percentage of the students in the College. And it is also true that a new Varsity Club will do little to improve athletics at Harvard.
If the University wants to help athletics it could build a hockey rink. If it wants better teams, it could provide athletic scholarships. The present disposition of the money is wasteful, and will please no one. John H. Ederer '53 Edward M. Cohen '53
