Lacrosse Team Beats UNH 10-4; Subs Given Workout

DURHAM, New Hampshire, May 17--The varsity lacrosse team's travelling squad won its last breather of the season this afternoon, pounding out a 10 to 4 victory over a crippled University of New Hampshire ten.

Coach Bruce Munro, anticipating the weakness of the Wildcats, started the game with his reserve attack, defense, and goalie and the fourth midfield. The reserves were scored upon in the first five minutes of play, but retaliated one minute later when Moe Baldwin took advantage of the extra man play to score on a pass from Pete Brooke.

Four Midfields Used

Munro rotated four midfields in the first half, but shackled the scoring punch of the first two units by keeping them in only two minutes at a time as against four minutes for the third and fourth groups. Each of the midfields collected one score in the first half on shots by Dick Post, Dave Waring, Ripper Lynch, and Ed Thayer.

The second defense of first stringer Jay Byrne teamed with reserves Fred Chamberlin and Godfrey Birckhead played the entire first half, limiting U.N.H. to one goal.

The Wildcats outscored the Crimson, 3 to 2, in the second half, but Harvard was concentrating on playmaking and methodically neglecting the goal. Crimson second goalie Dick Thomas was not neglected, however, and kept U.N.H. out of the game by making 18 saves.

First string goalie Sid Clark never played in the cage, but managed to get into the last few minutes of the game in an ersatz midfield with first attack men Rick Hudner and Bill Plissner.
