Strolling HTG Players, HDC To Play Today

"Figaro!" first production of the newly formed Harvard Theatre Group makes its House debut in the Leverett dining room at 8 p.m. This afternoon, Dramatic Club presents "The Shoemaker's Prodigious Wife" in the Fogg Large Room at 3 p.m.

H.T.G.'s strolling players gave their first performance in the Union last Friday. They will tour the Houses, arriving at Adams Wednesday and Winthrop Friday, and winding up at Kirkland May 15.

"Reading Theatre"

Though H.D.C.'s Spanish comedy, subtitled "a violent comedy in two acts," in part of the club's reading theatre series, the parts are spoken from memory. No admission will be charged for the show, which is complete with costumes and sets.

William S. Wheeling '50 did the translation of "Figaro!" for H.T.G. and Ellen Bower '50 composed the special music. John G. Kerr '52 will star as Figaro.

Next week, "Figaro!" will play in Eliot Monday, Dunster Wednesday, and Lowell Friday. Its costumed orange girls and ticket sellers will arrive in the Houses before each performance to boost advance sales.

Sherman H. Hawkins '51 is the director of the Dramatic Club's production. Joanna Brown '52 stars as the prodigious spouse of Michael Mabry '53.
