Four-hit pitching by lefthander Scott Ricketson, coupled with a 15-hit attack, gave the freshman baseball team a 14 to 4 victory over Tufts yesterday at Medford. It was the Yardlings' sixth victory in seven starts this season.
Outfielders Bob Smith and Russ Johnson shared batting honors, each collecting three hits. The Crimson batted around in the big seventh inning, scoring seven runs on six singles, two walks, two errors, and a balk.
After a rocky start, Ricketson settled down and didn't allow a safe hit after the fourth inning. He fanned eight. Short-stop Walt Greeley saved Ricketson from possible difficulties in the fourth, when he dived for a line drive and came up with the ball to double a runner off second.
