Arts Symposium Begins Tonight

Composer Paul Hindemith, conductor Arthur Fiedler, and critic Edward Downs will open a week-long Law School Symposium on Contemporary American Arts when they discuss the topic, "Critique of Modern Music" at 8 p.m. tonight in New Lecture Hall.

Modern poetry will be analyzed tomorrow evening when poets John A. Ciardi, Briggs-Copeland Assistant Professor of English Composition, Richard Wilbur, junior fellow in English, and Richard Eberhart meet at 8 p.m. in Langdell Court Room.

Wednesday evening's program on "Critique of Modern Painting" will feature Gyorgy, Kepes, professor of architecture at MIT, Frederick Wight, director of education at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Lawrence Kupferman from the Massachusetts School of Art, and Benjamin Rowland, Jr., associate professor of Fine Arts.

Stage designer Jo Mielziner, playwright Mare Connelly, and producer Herman Shumlin will talk on modern theatre at the concluding program Friday evening at Rindge Tech.
