Crimson debaters moved within striking distance of the Ivy League Championship last night by twice defeating Brown in debates held here and at Providence on the national topic: "Resolved, That the U.S. should nationalize all basic non-agricultural industries."
A double victory over Cornell on April 6 will give the Debate Council its first Ivy League crown. The team's record in League competition is now seven wins and two losses.
Norman M. Hinerfeld '51 and John H. Suttor '52 won the negative in the Winthrop Senior Common Room, holding that nationalization would cause economic stagnation. At Brown, William C. Becker '51 and Richard W. Hulbert '51 won on the affirmative side.
