David E. Lilitenthal, recently retired Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, will speak on "Atomic Energy for Peace" tonight at 8:30 p.m., in Symphony Hall.

Speaking on atom control as a private citizen for the first time, Lilitenthal is expected to discuss the advisability of building the hydrogen bomb. The lecture, the first in a series in various cities, is also expected to deal with the chances for halting the armament race and with the political problems posed by the un-clear muddle.

AEC Chairman

Lilitenthal, whose service as AEC chairman brought him into the spotlight of Congressional investigations twice during his term, also served as director of the Tennessee Valley Authority for 12 years before 1945.

Lilitenthal will be introduced by Dan Griswold of the Law School. The speech is sponsored by the Cambridge School of Weston, whose Board of Directors is headed by Richard H. Field '26, professor of Law.
