Eliot Sextet Holds 1st Place; Lowell, Kirkland Triumph

Bill Bridges of the Eliot hockey team slid in a shot from the side of the net in the last minute of play yesterday, and the Elephants held their league lead by downing Kirkland, 3 to 2.

The skaters from Lowell and Winthrop kept right behind Eliot by completely outclassing Leverett and Adams 9 to 1 and 8 to 0, respectively. Every man in the first and second lines scored for the Bellboys, and Jim Wycoff and Frank Hernberg picked up two goals apiece in the Puritan win.

Dunster, sparked by Dave Warden, pulled into the first division in A League basketball by breaking through the Eliot zone defense to score a 38 to 29 win. In the B League, Dunster ran away from Eliot, 64 to 13, and Leverett downed Adams in a tight game, 30 to 24.

Graham Johnson of Winthrop set a new House swimming record last night by doing the 50-yard breaststroke in 31 seconds. Swimming results were: Dunster over Dudley, 32 to 16, Kirkland over Dudley, 32 to 9, Kirkland over Dunster, 29 to 16, Leverett over Winthrop, 28 to 20, Adams over Winthrop, 37 to 10, Adams over Leverett, 39 to 9, and Lowell over Eliot, 29 to 19.
