The rapidly rising hockey team and tailspinning Boston College will find a common level on the Arena ice at 9 p.m. tonight. A win for the Crimson would be great for prestige, but for the Eagles this is a crucial game.
The esteemed BC coach John "Snooks" Kelley stated last week "if we can't beat Harvard and Dartmouth, we don't deserve a Colorado bid (the N.C.A.A. national championship tournament)." The chances of BC's taking its second victory of the season from Harvard became far greater with the return of Warren Lewis, their first line center and best lineman, to action last night against MIT. The other injured Eagle regular, Butch Songin, has not yet recovered from injuries.
The only factor which may tend to handicap BC against the Crimson is the possibility that they may be leg-weary. The team uses only two rather than three lines and has played games both Saturday and last night, while the varsity has had a rest since Saturday.
At the present time, the Crimson has been playing its best hockey of the season. The lines are checking back well and the defense has stiffened. With the Eagles weakened by the loss of Songin and the graduation of McIntyre, the Crimson should have a fair chance of upsetting the National Champions.
