Captain Joe Fox sped to victories in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events to lead the varsity swimming team to a 47 to 27 victory over Navy Saturday at Annapolis. It was the fourth triumph in five meets for Coach Hal Ulen's squad.
The Crimson captured six of nine events, missing another first when the 400-yard relay team was disqualified. Rene Vielman won his specialty, the 200 yard breaststroke, and also swam for the victorious 300-yard medley relay team.
Meanwhile, the freshman squad enjoyed similar success against the Boston, University yearlings at the Blockhouse, winning 49 to 26. The Yardling took six events is sweeping to their third straight triumph.
Captain Dave Hedberg accounted for a new freshman record when he swam the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.4. The former mark was 2:04.6, set by Franny Powers in 1938.
