H.C. Band Was Wet but Not Cross When It Marched Out

Holy Cress band took second quarter walkout only to protect its instruments from soggy damage, Harvard Band manager Paul A. Lucey said last night.

Afraid that their drumheads would break and their clarinets crack, the Crusader musicians left their seats at the end of the first period last Saturday, ditched their instruments, and returned to the Stadium in civvies.

Before the kickoff, the College band compahed the Purple off the field when they outran their time allowance. Holy Cross had to cut off number in the middle, but Lucey said this had nothing to do with their self-imposed absence at halftime.
