Army Leads Soccer League, Cornell Next

Army's fast, undefeated soccer team will take on Navy this week for the championship of the ten-team Eastern Intercollegiate Soccer League.

The Cadets will clinch the title, if they win or tie. They now have four wins and one tie. But if Navy wins, Army will slip to third place while Cornell and the Middies tie for the crown.

The Big Red ended its league season Saturday by beating Dartmouth. This left Cornell with a 3-0-2 record. Navy has a 3-1-0 card, but in League standings, a tie counts as a half victory, half defeat. So Cornell's record is really 4-1-0, which the Middies could equal if they beat Army.

Fourth place Yale was eliminated from contention Wednesday when the Elis lost to last-place Penn. Even if Yale beats seventh-place Harvard Friday, the Blue will not be able to catch Cornell, Army, or Navy.
