The Student Council tonight will consider a plan which would abolish single holidays throughout the academic year in order to lengthen Christmas or spring vacations. This issue, discussed earlier in the fall, returns to the group's agenda after consideration by Neale Bringhurst '51, National Student Association representative, and Louis B. McCagg '52, chairman of the Student Affairs Committee.
Consideration of the plan started after a motion made in the early fall by Henry M. Silveira '51, president of the Student Council, who wanted to have students return early from summer vacation and receive, in return, a Wednesday through Sunday Thanksgiving recess.
Last spring the Council approved a similar motion. The University, however, claimed that its calendar for the 1950-51 year had already been formed.
In October Silveira's duplicate proposal failed to pass and was dropped in favor of the single-holiday proposition.
