Pontoons have been selling in New Haven "like hotcakes," the Yale Daily News revealed last night. According to this source, the magazine made its appearance in the vicinity of Yale approximately two days after it was banned in Cambridge, October 28.
A news vendor known as "Jerry" is reported to have a monopoly on the publication. His stand is located on Elm Street, directly in front of the New Haven Railroad Station, and observers estimated that he sold over 500 copies of the issue on the first day it reached the city.
Price of the Pontoon in New Haven is 50 cents.
The News did not know how the publication had been transported from Cambridge to New Haven. It was rumored last night that the Lampoon also planned to distribute the issue at Smith College, but that, for an unknown cause, the project was abandoned.
