THE MUSIC BOX

Alexander Schneider played two Back sonatas for unaccompanied violin and a Bach partita last night in Sanders Theatre. This fact in itself means a fine concert.

Mr. Schneider has virtually made these pieces his personal property and has toured the country playing them. Another Sanders audience heard him give such a concert two years ago.

The wealth of knowledge and experience that he brings to this program is such that his performance can hardly be criticized. Going beyond the natural liveliness of Back, Schneider adds color and depth. And his expert technique imparts to the violin solos an unexpected power and vitality.

Mr. Schneider will return to Sanders Theatre tonight to play two of Bach's partitas and one sonata. His style of last night promises to make tonight's concert an equally brilliant exposition of Bach's works.
