Leverett House rolled up the rugs in its Common Room last night for 30 members of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and 100 minutes of Gilbert and Sullivan repertoire.

Paying its second visit in three years, almost the whole London company gave snatches of its famous song-and-dance before 150 applauding Bunnies. It even tossed in "The Road to Mandalay" and "The Deacon Went Down" for good measure.

Hutch students paired off as personal escorts for male and female principals and the chorus line, sandwiching the song fast between a pre-dinner cocktail party, and after-dinner cocktail party, and an after cocktail-party beer party.

The liquids had their effect, and some escorts and escortees were reported to have driven back to Boston singing such ditties as "Alouette," "rule Britannia," and "God Save the King."

Several of the host students were taken by the charm and vivacity of the visitors, and one Bunny was heard to mean, "My girl was so charming that I rashly promised to go twice a week to see her. Then she told me that she can get me seats right where she can watch me out of the corner of her eye!"

Martyn Green, male lead of the troupe, promised to come back to Leverett the next time the D'Oyly Carte is in Boston.
