Radcliffe Conference Meets To Advise 1949-50 Policies

An expanded Student Employment Committee to investigate Radcliffe's appointment bureau and to promote smoother dormitory-commuter relations for 1949-50 head recommendations adopted last week by delegates to Radcliffe's Cedar Hill Conference.

Attending the Conference were 65 representatives of college organizations who met for a three-day conference to discuss and recommend measures affecting College-student policies.

The Conference, an annual affair, was held Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday preceding orientation activities.

Delegates advised that class presidents and a representative of NSA should be included in the Student Employment Committee. The Committee, formerly only engaged in placing students in jobs, would then work also with the appointment bureau to maintain student contact with graduate placement opportunities.

Student Government-sponsored mass meetings and a meeting of the Senior class will, if voted by the student Council, publicize Bureau facilities and techniques of job-hunting.

Dues of commuters affiliated with certain dormitories may be reduced upon decision of the Student Government Association. This recommendation is in line with the College policy of fostering resident-commuter relations.

Additional Conference recommendations on the subject of commuter relations call for a joint discussion of the commuter-affiliate system by the Board of Hall presidents and the Chairman of the Dormitory-Commuter Committee and an investigation of the overnight system by Student Government.

Under the dorm-commuter system a commuter may spend the night at a dormitory for a minimum fee or, if an affiliate may participate in dormitory activities.
